Splasher's Big Island Challenge

A small, but dedicated group of paddlers competed in the 17th annual Big Island challenge today. 
This was a 31 mile relay from Puako to Honokohau. 
Mahalo to Splashier’s grill for sponsoring this wonderful event. 
Of special note is the Adult/Junior mixed crew. 
This was the first time in the 17 year of the event that Junior paddlers complete this 31 mile event. 
Conditions were not favorable with light a variable trades.

Tiger Canoes Keokea Challege

Due to unsafe conditions, the race was moved to Kapaa Park. The conditons further conspired against us to force a single distance race south of Kapaa and back.

Mahalo for all of the paddlers who supported this event and a HUGE mahalo to Tiger, Kim and `ohana for great, food, entertainment and the special award to all participant. We were greatly disappointed by those who showed up, but chose not to stay and support the event.

Keauhou Ku'uipio Race Preliminary Results

Mahalo to everyone who particiapted in this event. The results are formatted differntly due to the output of the new system. Not bad, just different. I’m happy to say, everything worked out very well. The times may not be what you had hoped for, but I am confident that they are correct. The IOS app has some features I really like. I am work on the awards for last week’s race stay tuned.

Aloha All, my apologies about not have results immediately post race. The race software had a failure. This was the 3rd time in the past 4 races that this has happened leading me to believe it’s a hardware problem and not a software problem since I’ve thoroughly rebuilt the software after the previous 2 failures. Let the forensics begin.

Unrelated to the software issue, there are 3 people on the results with no time, I also have 3 orphan race numbers recored in the timing clock (no canoe assiged to the number). This could be either wrong number on the entry form / canoe or a mis-entry in the clock.

If you are one of these people with no time, send me an email with who you finished near and I’ll match you up with one of those orphan numbers Mahalo to Hi`ilei and Aldridge for getting back to me me, I think it’s sorted out.

As usual, if you notice any other annomolies, send me an email

2012 Kama`ili Nursery Pohoiki Challenge

Below are the results of the 2012 Kama`ili Nursery Pohoiki Challenge (the final one). The long course ran 11 miles from Pohoiki, north towards Kumukahi, the south to Kehena. The Short course was approx 6.5 miles and ran from Pohoiki, straight south to Kehena. Conditions featured a strong trade wind swell favoring the paddlers, BUT also a strong under current going the wrong way making for difficult (sticky) conditions for most.
